Sometimes you just want to add a bit of edginess to a classic look, at least I do. That’s what happened last Thursday when I wore this skull print scarf that I bought at H&M for $3 from their sale bin two weeks ago.
I was going on Let’s Talk Live to do my monthly segment and the dress I was going to wear was a bit too snug in the chest area — the good news is that it fits because of the 12 lbs I’ve lost, but I didn’t want to be ‘popping’ on live TV. Don’t need any wardrobe malfunctions!
Scarves are one of my favorite accessories and I have a pretty vast collection of them in all colors, patterns and textures.
As a solution, I grabbed the new skull print scarf and folded it from point to point making a long triangle. I put it on bandana style then slightly adjusted it to the side and instead of tying it in the back, I just pulled the sides down and tucked the ends into the side of the scarf. You can see the end result of that outfit here.
The look worked out so well that I wore it all weekend as seen here on our family day out visiting the monuments and then later that evening for our date night.
Because it was 90 degrees and blazing sun, we called it quits after the Jefferson Memorial — but despite the heat the skull print scarf is lightweight and wasn’t too warm. On the other hand, my poor babies (husband included) were melting and you can tell by their faces they were DONE.

This post is about real mamas who have real style. While we all fall into the jeans and t-shirt rut we are encouraging our fellow moms to take the time to dress their best and rock it like the rock star moms they are!
Did you look especially good this week? Were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit?
Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion! This linky is hosted by Thrifty and Chic Mom, Momma in Flip Flops and myself Very Busy Mama.
