I love me some vino! And I’m talking good wine.
I come from a wine producing and drinking country. Chile is known for its award winning wines and in my house, it has always been an integral part of family life and meals. And let’s not forget that as a mamá a little vino time after the toddler has gone to bed is just what the doctored ordered!
I mentioned that the Mr. and I went to Monticello, Virginia where the home of Thomas Jefferson is. The man was not only the third President of the United States, but an inventor, paleontologist, diplomat, polyglot, and a viticulturist. On the tour the Mr. and I were pleasantly surprised to learn that he has been described as “the greatest patron of wine and wine growing that this country has had yet” and had an impressive wine cellar on his estate to match.
Not to get into a history lesson here (well, just a small one) but during his life he wrote documents supporting and encouraging the drinking of wine amongst the general public and it’s health benefits. It must have been the French influence, he spent years in Paris and it clearly did him good.
This is a small corner of his wine cellar, I found it looked beautiful with the light coming in and the Mr. and I both agreed, we should definitely invest in a cellar when we finally move into our estate. HA!
So I raise my glass of red to your Mr. Jefferson.
