Race day! Rocking & rolling in Washington DC

Share Button

I’m off to run the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon in Washington, DC (that’s 13.1 miles) and the Mr. and I are very excited to run it together. We usually run at very different paces but he agreed to “slow down” and race this one with me.

Of course, I have my running gear and outfit all sorted…you don’t expect me to just wear anything, do you?

Workout and running gear are also very bright for the Spring and I indulged in pink this year. First time I have ever worn so much pink in my life, but I’m enjoying it!

Here’s what I’ll be suffering running in and carrying along the way:

My pink & grey New Balances – love these!

Of course my number! And it’s pinkish/red which is a bonus

My pink & brown band RazzyRoo Headbands kindly gave me to add a finishing touch to my running look
My running pack and a Marathon Bar (or two) which have kept us energized on our runs & will get us through the race
And lastly my bright pink Champion top from Target. Their running gear is amazing quality and affordable!
I got this top for $9 on sale.
A few other items: chapstick, Vaseline to lather my feet in and water which they will have along the way. I don’t like carrying too much when I run because it just gets in the way.
Last year at this time I was a few weeks away from running the London Marathon…let’s hope today is a good race and I make my goal of running it in 2 hours 15 minutes.
See you at the finish!

This is a sponsored post in partnership with KnowYourOTCs. Cute kids with spring allergies and mocos are my own. News flash: the little people in our lives get spring allergies too. Who knew? However treating their symptoms and finding relief are different than for adult sufferers. I didn’t much on this and maybe some of you don’t either. As a serious allergy suffer — and I’m talking prescription medication taken with an over-the-counter one AND nasal spray (eeeeek!) on those extra pollen induced {Read More}

Wear Sunscreen NOT Sunburns #ChooseSkinHealth

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Neutrogena® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own. It’s sunscreen season and time to think about your skin health more than ever. Memorial Day will mean spending time outdoors and the rest of the summer months should be about enjoying the beach, the kids doing cannon balls at the pool or playing with the hose in the backyard — NOT about painful sunburned skin. Scary to think but 1 in {Read More}

Related Post: How Hispanics Celebrate Mother’s Day I can say with absolute certainty that when you are invited to dinner at an Hispanic home you will NOT be done and out the door by 9:00pm. Dinners and social get togethers are an EXPERIENCE. An aperitivo to start, then a big meal with laughter, story telling, plenty of wine and right when many think it’s {Read More}

I received a hand crafted Soapstone Heart Box from Macy’s Heart of Haiti as a gift for Mother’s Day. No other compensation given. Roller skating kids and story are my own! How was your Mother’s Day?! I was surprised with a roller skating and jumping performance by my kids — seriously, so so cute and ridiculously funny. Mother’s Day naturally had me thinking of motherhood and how our job is to care for, provide for and love our families. But what {Read More}

Dove Beauty Stories is a sponsored campaign with Dove and The Motherhood and this is MY story because every woman in beautiful! “Si un chico no ve que tu eres linda, ¡es un tonto!” exclaimed my Oma wiping away my tears after being rejected and made fun of by a boy. At the age of 10 my family and I lived with my Opas — grandparents —  in Concepción, Chile and my grandmother became for me a pillar of faith, true beauty, personal {Read More}

How Hispanics Celebrate Mother’s Day #SinTraducción (VIDEO)

This is a sponsored video post in collaboration with Target and MamásLatinas. All stories and untranslatable moments are my own. Around the time I was 15,  I realized that most (okay, ALL) of my friends didn’t quite celebrate their moms on Mother’s Day like we did in my home. Our way involved more familia — as in primos, tíos and friends of the family who were close enough to be family. In this video, see one way your favorite Chilean blogger (that {Read More}
