One Hand Manicure: Busy Mama Problem or New Mom Trend

All I wanted was to pretty up my nails with a manicure. That’s all! Is that too much for mama to ask?!!

LATE Saturday night after the kiddies were tucked away, I took out my new polish to paint my nails. I was hosting a Stella & Dot Trunk Show on Sunday and I just wanted to look extra nice — besides I had taken a special trip to CVS to reward myself with a new vibrant color and I was determined to show it off.

Little L should have slept through the night. She had just had her night feed and every other night she is off to sleep until the early morning. But no. Not that night.

I had just finished the second coat on my left hand when I heard her wimper. I froze. I even stopped breathing. I thought “No no no. Por favor, go back to sleep.” I waited, and I heard her rustle around in her moses basket.

Shoot. She was waking up.

I waited quietly and turned down the lights. Nothing.

Phewwww. Close call. I breathed again.

Deciding I was in the clear I reached over to get started on my right hand when….”Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!” She let out THE cry.

The “I’M STARVING FEED ME AHORA” cry.

Color: Sally Hansen Kook a Mango

And that was the end of my manicure. I didn’t even try to be careful, I just threw in the towel because I figured the polish would smudge and I’d have to take it off.

After having her milk, cuddle time and giving me big smiles, I swaddled her back up and kissed her goodnight (again).

I hopelessly looked down at my nails only to see they were in perfect condition! But by then I was super tired and wasn’t up for doing the other hand. I figured I could do it in the morning before heading out.

Monday afternoon and still no time to do the other hand

How stupid was that idea?

That was Saturday night. I spent all day Sunday and Monday rocking the one hand manicure.

Now it’s Tuesday at 12:14 am and I have JUST managed to do the right hand. I’m going to enjoy this color because I don’t see myself painting my nails any time soon.

What do you think — one hand manicure, busy mama problem or new mom trend?

**Not sponsored. I bought polish myself — just impressed with Sally Hansen. ¡GRACIAS!**

I love me a good snowy winter and the fun and stylish pieces you can wear during the cold weather months — including this Ecru suede, knit and fur jacket I picked up at the Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale a few weeks ago here in Alexandria from local shop Coco Blanca. However, this post isn’t just about this undeniably stunning jacket. No. It’s about the quality and the depth of it. I mentioned previously about working on transitioning my wardrobe {Read More}

When Your Toddler Attacks Your Makeup Bag (VIDEO)

Let me preface by saying that I do keep my makeup, especially red lipstick along with other items (jewelry, perfume, etc.) away from my toddler. However, she ALWAYS manages to find something, ANYTHING she can completely and utterly destroy — especially when she is bored and indoors due to winter weather. BAD things happen when kids, especially toddlers are stuck inside for days at a time. There are only so many ways to entertain them so they seek excitement elsewhere… ¡Ay Dios mio!

Clothing provided by J. Jill for one shirt three ways post. Getting dressed is more than the act of putting on clothes.  Anything from putting together looks with just a few pieces, mixing patterns, thinking of ways to style one garment several ways or giving life to a tired look are just a few ways it can be and is a creative process for me. At 36 I’m drowning out clothing and shoes that don’t make it past one season due to lower quality {Read More}
