Channing Tatum at White House Down Premiere in DC

I’ll just cut to the chase, last Friday was the premiere of the action comedy film starring Magic Mike and new daddy himself Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal and up and coming child actor Joey King — and fellow blogger, friend and Channing’s Step Up co-star Angelica of Clarendon Moms and I were there.

What a way to start the weekend!

Excited is putting it mildly! But more than just sharing the same breathing space with the gorgeous and talented actors, I arrived in style thanks to the car service Uber DC and rocked a pair of sweet and sexy black open toe bow pumps given to me by The Shoe Hive. I certainly felt like a very pretty mama!

What I Wore
I did go out and looked for a chic and classy number without any luck. In the end I dug out a black and white polka dot A-line sleeveless dress I had bought at Zara when I still lived in London (and never wore!), accessorized with the Stella & Dot Jolie necklace, a red clutch from Lou Lou Boutique and my pumps from The Shoe Hive. I wanted to look good and still be able to walk and be comfortable and this outfit did just that.

It’s amazing what you can find in your own closet!

Hosted by Denise and Melissa of The Moms, the “Mamarazzi” event included a reception at MATE, followed by an introduction to the film by the actors themselves then the screening. It definitely got a little hot in there!

While it was never confirmed there was going to be a meet and greet, it was certainly never denied (other Mamarazzi events have the bloggers meeting the cast of movies) and every single one of us in the room was left wondering, “will we, or won’t we” get 30 seconds with the stars to snap a picture? As a PR myself, I know things don’t always go as planned — and some things are out of your control. However I know that all of us there would have appreciated a little heads up.

Let’s face it, Channing missed out on a good thing!

The cast of White House Down. Outside the theater with Joey King and Channing Tatum waving at me!

Despite all of that, all was not lost and I enjoyed seeing my fellow blogger friends, how pretty we all looked and sitting right in front of the cast.

HELL YES I would have loved to have wrapped my arms around Chan (I can call him that) but just seeing him looking insanely sexy in his suit was good enough for me. I will say that my biggest regret was not being able to meet Maggie Gyllenhaal — I sadly missed her by a few seconds when I turned to speak to someone and she came by and into her car. The night ended with drinks at the rooftop bar of the The Graham Hotel then we Ubered it back home.

Oh and the movie…ehhhhh. Not my style. But the scene where the sprinklers come on and Channing Tatum gets soaked was pretty good. After that I don’t remember much! But all kidding aside, it is full of cheesy one liners and lots and lots of shooting and explosions. Think Independence Day. Movie opens nationwide June 28th.

One thing is for sure, I really need to get out more!

Disclosure: Clarendon Moms and I partnered with Uber DC to drive us to and from the Channing Tatum premier event. Shoes provided by The Shoe Hive.

You know how much I preach about looking and feeling good no matter your size, budget or time constraints — I’ve been on the other side and it’s terrible! I’m not a stylist nor do I want to be one, but I do enjoy encouraging and helping women gain confidence, learn to take style risks and make themselves a priority and using myself as an example. Maybe motivational speaker/comedian is what I’m meant to do! This past Saturday, I hosted {Read More}

All Day Comfort and Style from the Ground Up

Sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood and Rockport. Total Motion Boots received complimentary to showcase comfort and style. View are my own. One of the comments I most hear from other women, especially mamas is that they “don’t have time” to be stylish or that “it’s too much work.” Followed by “I’d rather be comfortable.” Oh really? So they think I walk around uncomfortable all day for the sake of looking good? Umm, think again. I really don’t like {Read More}

The weekend is going to be busier than usual for us. The Mr. travels quite a bit so on weekend we tend to sleep in, enjoy a family brunch, play in the yard and stay close to home as possible. We are the opposite of over-planning. However, the next few days are {Read More}

History Meets Style at the Spite House in Old Town Alexandria

Sunday’s are always family days and we pretty much stay in Alexandria. There is always something going on, so we never need to go very far. This weekend was the 12th Annual King Street Art Festival and the weather was just marvelous! Breezy, sunny with a touch of fall in the air. Alexandria is a historic city with brick sidewalks, cobblestone streets, colorful row homes and more. On the way back to the car I wanted to show the Mr. {Read More}
