Channing Tatum at White House Down Premiere in DC

I’ll just cut to the chase, last Friday was the premiere of the action comedy film starring Magic Mike and new daddy himself Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal and up and coming child actor Joey King — and fellow blogger, friend and Channing’s Step Up co-star Angelica of Clarendon Moms and I were there.

What a way to start the weekend!

Excited is putting it mildly! But more than just sharing the same breathing space with the gorgeous and talented actors, I arrived in style thanks to the car service Uber DC and rocked a pair of sweet and sexy black open toe bow pumps given to me by The Shoe Hive. I certainly felt like a very pretty mama!

What I Wore
I did go out and looked for a chic and classy number without any luck. In the end I dug out a black and white polka dot A-line sleeveless dress I had bought at Zara when I still lived in London (and never wore!), accessorized with the Stella & Dot Jolie necklace, a red clutch from Lou Lou Boutique and my pumps from The Shoe Hive. I wanted to look good and still be able to walk and be comfortable and this outfit did just that.

It’s amazing what you can find in your own closet!

Hosted by Denise and Melissa of The Moms, the “Mamarazzi” event included a reception at MATE, followed by an introduction to the film by the actors themselves then the screening. It definitely got a little hot in there!

While it was never confirmed there was going to be a meet and greet, it was certainly never denied (other Mamarazzi events have the bloggers meeting the cast of movies) and every single one of us in the room was left wondering, “will we, or won’t we” get 30 seconds with the stars to snap a picture? As a PR myself, I know things don’t always go as planned — and some things are out of your control. However I know that all of us there would have appreciated a little heads up.

Let’s face it, Channing missed out on a good thing!

The cast of White House Down. Outside the theater with Joey King and Channing Tatum waving at me!

Despite all of that, all was not lost and I enjoyed seeing my fellow blogger friends, how pretty we all looked and sitting right in front of the cast.

HELL YES I would have loved to have wrapped my arms around Chan (I can call him that) but just seeing him looking insanely sexy in his suit was good enough for me. I will say that my biggest regret was not being able to meet Maggie Gyllenhaal — I sadly missed her by a few seconds when I turned to speak to someone and she came by and into her car. The night ended with drinks at the rooftop bar of the The Graham Hotel then we Ubered it back home.

Oh and the movie…ehhhhh. Not my style. But the scene where the sprinklers come on and Channing Tatum gets soaked was pretty good. After that I don’t remember much! But all kidding aside, it is full of cheesy one liners and lots and lots of shooting and explosions. Think Independence Day. Movie opens nationwide June 28th.

One thing is for sure, I really need to get out more!

Disclosure: Clarendon Moms and I partnered with Uber DC to drive us to and from the Channing Tatum premier event. Shoes provided by The Shoe Hive.

Reflecting on the Good of 2014 Despite the Bad

This is a compensated post in collaboration with Children’s MOTRIN and The Motherhood.  Aaaaaaand it’s December. I realize we are mid-month already, but just before Thanksgiving my husband and kids packed up our bags and left for Chile. It was a last minute, spur of the moment decision. Not to be adventurous, but to say goodbye to my sweet and handsome Opa (grandfather) who, chances are will not see the new year. During those two weeks, not only did I {Read More}

At Home Healthy and Vibrant Hair Color by Madison Reed

Sponsored post in collaboration with Madison Reed. All opinions my own. I haven’t colored my hair at home since…. ohhhhh, I can’t remember. I rarely do all over color because I find they are harsh and looks terrible as it grows out. However, I’m older now (cough) and I have some pesky greys coming in which I don’t quite fancy seeing everyday. Madison Reed, salon quality haircolor approached me to try it and well — I did! No joke, I {Read More}

This is a sponsored collaboration with Redbook and Lee Misses. All opinions are my own. Jeans are never easy to shop for and over the years I’ve come to realize that it’s not just me. All over, women are not fully satisfied with the way their pants fit. One thing I cannot tolerate is the gap in the back — ahhhh drives me insane. I’ve never had a problem with it myself, but I’ve been “exposed” to it many a times. My {Read More}

Since I could read I have loved books. I could finish a book in a weekend, I’d volunteer to read aloud in class and a new book was always on my list of things to buy. Along with my love of reading, I was blessed with 20/20 vision despite desperately wanting glasses as a child. I know, crazy! I’d even pretend to struggle on my yearly eye exam at school. Each time I was sure I’d given an Oscar worthy {Read More}

A Hand Model’s Daily Beauty Routine

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of AmLactin. The opinions, text and severely dry hands are all mine. Aside from freshening up my hair with dry shampoo, applying BB Cream or a light foundation, adding a dab of blush and giving my lashes a much needed boost with mascara, part of my morning beauty routine is moisturizing my hands. Especially now with the colder weather and drier air. They don’t get just dry, they CRACK and peel {Read More}
