London was my home for 6 1/2 years — nope, I didn’t pick up an accent (maybe a slight one), but I did pick up a few favorite sayings, learned to appreciate tea, finally GOT their humor and realized that EVERYONE (myself included) needs to invest in proper deodorant.
During that time I commuted daily on the famous (or infamous) tube. Like any kind of public transportation, it got insanely packed during peak times which meant it was overwhelmingly hot, sticky, musty and just smelled rancid — remember, no AC!
I mean, I’m only 5 foot tall and being pressed up against someone’s backside and having an armpit in your face isn’t my idea of a pleasant commute. Most mornings I thought “Why the HELL don’t people wear deodorant?” I had also noticed when I lived in Spain and Germany that everyone just smelled extra musty all of the time. This truly bothered my overly sensitive nose (this was also BEFORE having kids, because now the smell of caca doesn’t even make me flinch)
One day at work I just couldn’t focus because of the heat (no AC) and the body funk that lingered in the office. Again I thought, “Come one people, get some extra strength deodorant!” I got up to go to the bathroom when I realized the smell was coming WITH me. Then I stopped, lowered my face a bit, then realized I was the one who’s smell was bothering me. ¡AY DIOS MIO! I’d NEVER had a problem with strong body odor and I wasn’t about to start now.
I came to the realization that when your body temperature is elevated ALL day and doesn’t have a chance to cool down and you are constantly sweating then you WILL smell. End of. Also that deodorant and anti-perspirant are two completely different things and that not all products have both.
This is probably more than you ever wanted to know about my body odor issues — but hey, it happens to all of us at some point, whether you spend a few years with no AC or you simply forgot to put it on one morning and then had that not-so-fresh feeling all day long. And like I mentioned before, I’m a deodorant snob. I don’t go cheap on that. Ever.
I love a good multi-purpose deodorant and I prefer fresh, crisps scents that keep me DRY (because I hate that moist feeling under my arms) and one that moisturizes and soothes when my skin is sensitive from shaving or dryness. I’m pretty sure Dove has been out there talking to women like me because they have kicked it up a notch with their new Pink/Rosa Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant Deodorant with calendula and sunflower seed extracts which is designed to reduce red and dark marks and even skin tone resulting from shaving irritation.
It smells super good and guess what? It doesn’t FEEL like deodorant which are normally powdery. This one looks and feel like a moisturizer — silky smooth, smells divine and most importantly leaves you odor-free.
