I’m constantly going on about shapewear, wearing a proper bra with proper support, dressing for your body type and just keeping it all in and together. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want any extra bits hanging out. It’s not a good look for anyone.
This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Soulevant.
However, all that falls short when it comes to my jammies. I try to find things are comfy and stylish (sorry, I can’t and won’t sleep in sweats and a t-shirt!) but nightgowns are cut for thinner ladies and they just never seem to fit right over my hips. A larger busted friend said she can’t fit into them at all, and the material used doesn’t stretch in the necessary places and that she needs extra support for the girls. I get her.
This was the thought that Linda Wallace-Blau, a Northern Virginia mother of two and creator and owner of Soulevant Lingerie had in mind — beauty and style shouldn’t be sacrificed when you put on a nightgown. Large-busted women of all sizes deserve to be beautiful without the hassle of an underwire. So I’m not large busted, but I’m a woman and I know what it’s like to want feel good.
Read carefully here — Soulevant is not a lingerine line for plus size, but for women of all shapes and sizes ranging from small to 3X. Oh yeah, did I mention Soulevant in French means “lifting up” — ahhhhh, makes sense now!
I had a quick chat with Linda to get to know her better and to get the scoop on how she came up with such a ‘lifting’ range.
VBM: What makes your lingerie designs different from others?
LWB: The chemises and nightgowns have a built-in bra that is more supportive than a shelf bra, but doesn’t have underwire so it is comfortable to wear — other lingerie isn’t made this way.
VBM: What sort of products do you offer and will you be expanding?
LWB: We currently offer chemises, nightgowns and robes in a variety of prints and yes — we are working on new products as we speak!
VBM: Oh the prints! Tell me about that — where do you get your inspiration for colors and patterns?
LWB: My background is as an artist, a teacher, and a mother. Clothing can be ,and should be a form of art. My inspiration for the prints evoke a feeling when I look at them — fun, sexy, playful, high school days, college days, a painting I may have seen or a place I traveled to which stuck out in my mind.
VBM: You mention three guiding principles to best serve the discerning woman — what are they?
LWB: Comfort, support and style! Comfort meaning soft, breathable stretch fabrics that women of every size can confidently relax in. Support is about our unique built-in bra providing just the right amount of support without a restrictive underwire, and style pertaining to the elegant designs and high-quality materials selected to showcase your beauty.
VBM: For those that don’t know, what is the difference between a chemise and a nightgown?
LWB: I get asked that a lot! A chemise is a knee lenght gown and the nightgown is closer to ankle length. There is about a 10 inch difference. However, both feature Soulevant’s unique built in support and made of the same soft comfortable fabrics.
VBM: How can customers shop your line?
LWB: Right now they can buy directly from our site — on there you will see a sizing chart and to make sure you get the best fit.
VBM: Any Black Friday or Holiday specials going on?
LWB: Absolutely! Everything will be 20% off on starting on Black Friday and ending on Sunday, December 1st.
VBM: Lastly, a personal question, red or nude lips?
LWB: Red! It makes my face look full of life!
