Alright, so I’m no expert — most nights I go to sleep with makeup ON, but that doesn’t mean I am not aware of my wrong doing and what I have to do to make it right.
Most days I do take care of my skin and while I admit I am fortunate to have good skin (¡gracias mamá!) I still have to work to get luminous looking. Age, sun damage and massive hormonal changes certainly affect it. After having my son my skin changed drastically — dark spots, additional dryness and blotchiness was a common occurrence.
This is a compensated post in collaboration with Dove and Latina Bloggers Connect. Words are my own.
Dove is on a mission to help women achieve healthy and luminous skin everywhere including the forgotten underarm area with the new Clear Tone Anti-Perspirant Deodorant which has been known to accelerate the natural skin renewal process, helping repair red or darkened skin.
Look at these 5 tips for luminous skin as a beauty refresher course — and promise to do one!
Moisturize — Most obvious, yet we don’t do it. Ideally it’s best at night and before makeup, but I only mange it in the morning. Use a “deep conditioning” moisturizer that penetrates the skin and that you can feel working.
Give your skin a break — skip the makeup once or twice a week, wash with a warm cloth and then moisturize.
Fresh air — Extreme heat and extreme cold are not good. Apply moisturizer and get out for a brisk walk away from the confines of your heated car and home if you’ve been indoors too long.
Let your skin breathe — Aside from helping you sleep better at night and avoiding nasal decongestion, having a humidifier in your room while you sleep also helps your skin breathe and keep moisture. This prevents giving you that “cornflake” feeling when you wake up.
SPF — Again, another obvious one, but do we do it? NO. To make it easy, buy your regular foundation, primer, BB cream, moisturizer or whatever you use and make sure it has at a minimum of SPF 15 in it. One application and you are ready to go.
What do you say? Are you going to try at least one this weekend? What do you like to do to keep your skin luminous?
