Real Mom Style: Michael Kors Pointed Flats

This weekend was the Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale here in Alexandria. Local businesses come together and reduce their prices on stock up to 75% off and it certainly draws in massive crowds.

People were in line from 6:00 am to be first through the doors at 9:00 am. Thankfully, I was invited to shop crowd-free at 8:00 am with other bloggers and media. It was heavenly!

I had a budget of $50 and had to stick to it. However, I wasn’t worried, I had a feeling I’d find that perfect item — I either wanted a handbag or a smashing pair of shoes.

In the end, I walked out with a pair of burgundy Michael Kors Haya Zipper Pointed Flats from The Shoe Hive. However, it wasn’t that simple — they were slightly big. Not the worst problem to have, only a half size but it made me doubt if I should get them.

After circling the shoe table for a while, pondering and looking for “shoe enablers” I decided to make them mine and wear with inserts — after all they were only $50 (RIGHT on budget) down from $150 which made it harder to leave them behind and they were gorgeous!

These are my first pair of designer shoes in…oh, let’s think….ummmm….A VERY LONG TIME!

I ended up wearing them for my daughter’s first birthday party with a pair of leather pants and on Sunday I styled them with a pair of burgundy jeans and a striped tee for a more casual look.

I personally like stripes with animal print, so on went the leopard scarf!

It’s a very simple look anyone can replicate with a cute pair of pointed flats — this blazer is at least five years old, and the t-shirt has been around for a while. The pointed flats may be from last season, but classic and clean looks never go out of style!

Did you look especially good this week, were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit? Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion!

    Those shoes are gorgeous! I hope I look just as good at my son’s first bday at the end of the month! I’m jealous of the shopping opportunities you have in DC. Down here at the beach has a few limitations. Thanks again for sharing the opportunity! This is fun and bringing some of my mojo back!

    • María José Ovalle

      I don’t know much about VA beach selection —I’m guessing more malls than shopping districts? And you will look fab for the birthday…take pics!

  • María José Ovalle

    thanks lovely! I’m proud of them! haha

  • María José Ovalle

    Thank you! I had no other posts this week, but when I do I’ll link up (I don’t want to repeat the same post again!) xo

It’s never EVER easy to get back into working out after an extended ‘leave of absence.’ As mamas we are busy, yes, but depending on the age of our children, our “busy” can vary. For instance, a new mom has a variety of challenges and fills her days differently than a mother with school age kids. You get it.  So when it comes to working out, getting in shape and feeling good the same applies. I received complimentary tickets — no other compensation given. Opinions are my own. The lights were turned off and the audience was still as we sat waiting for the start of Amaluna,Cirque du Soleil, when my husband leans in and whispers “Thank you. It was a good idea to get out on our own for a date night” and then of course, made a move for a good old fashioned make out session. Well, ok. Not making out, but you know, a little {Read More}

Budget Friendly Designer Shoes: Christian Siriano for Payless

This weekend was a busy one getting ready for my son’s first day of kindergarden — which aside from school supplies included new undies, socks and shoes. He wears a uniform and there are rules when it comes to color and style so I had to run all over town to get the right ones and in the end, Payless came through for me. On Sunday I went on a double date with my cousin and my husband to see Cirque {Read More}
