Real Mom Style: Leather Jacket and Broken Ray-Bans (VIDEO)

What a gorgeous weekend!

It was absolutely magical outside and seeing and feeling the sun on my skin just made me feel alive. Sunlight does wonders for my mood and helps push away the blues — so I wasted no time in taking the kids out.

Even though my mind is really on spring and summer I still wore my leather jacket because it’s just a favorite of mine and the evenings are still quite cold. See the entire outfit in my first Real Mom Style video — there’s also a surprise or two in there!

Here are a few more snaps — especially of ¡mi niña bella!

This post is about real mamas who have real style. While we all fall into the jeans and t-shirt rut we are encouraging our fellow moms to take the time to dress their best and rock it like the rock star moms they are!

Did you look especially good this week? Were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit?

Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion! This linky is hosted by Thrifty and Chic MomMomma in Flip Flops and myself Very Busy Mama.

    Hey Maria Jose, thank you for hosting. Loving the video…what a great way to share an outfit and I love how you’ve worked your wardrobe today, using items you’ve had for a while – true #realmomstyle. Have a great week! Avril x

    You rock that jacket Maria! Don’t talk to me about feeling the sun on your skin… I wish!! x

    • http://www.verybusymamablog.com/ María José Ovalle

      Thanks Alex! I know how it is…takes a good while for spring to really “arrive” over there. One year that came back to the US and I got sun poisoning just from being in the sun all day because my body wasn’t used to it!

    I love a great leather jacket! I wish it was warm enough here to wear one!

    • http://www.verybusymamablog.com/ María José Ovalle

      Well Toronto isn’t getting warm yet — I do feel for you ;( But after this great weekend it snowed today and will again for another few days. Crazy weather!

    Great video! If it looks good, wear it…even if it’s broke :) True #RealMomStyle repurposing a pair of slacks and still looking good while doing it!

      Thanks Marcia! Most things these days are broken, stained, pulled or vomited on. It’s part of life now, hahaha!

  • thriftychicmom

    She is so precious and I love the jacket. My Skagen sunglasses are broke too but I still love them!

    • http://www.verybusymamablog.com/ María José Ovalle

      Thanks Ellen, she’s a crazy one always grabbing at everything!!! I can’t bear to part with my sunglasses and I’ve been told they can’t be repaired. Super glue maybe??

  • Clarendon Moms

    I love, love, love your video! Fantastic leather jacket! But, what really inspired me is the fact that you kept your chic sunglasses (you can get them fixed another day)! Keep the videos rolling! Love them!

Supermodel Hair, Unshaven Legs and Day Old Undies

What do you get when you mix super awesome amazing hair, with day old undies and unshaven legs? Me on a Saturday morning! Here I am with my kids at the spray park last weekend. All looks good — right? Well, if you could take a closer look you’d see that haven’t waxed my legs and my feet are in desperate need of a pedicure. On top of that, the blue dress I’m wearing has crusted mocos smeared on it (in {Read More}

Honey Cocktail Recipes for Sweet Summer Drinks

Share Button

Sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood and The Honey Board.  There is nothing we love more for an extra bit of sweetness in our home than honey. I stir it into my coffee, add some over my plain low-fat yogurt, on toast with peanut butter and it replaces syrup on my pancakes — and now in my kids water and in my summertime drinks! This honey cocktail recipe that I appropriately named “Viva el Verano” which translates to “Long Live Summer” {Read More}

Find Babysitters ASAP with Urban Sitter

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. I constantly struggle to find babysitters to cover the 5:00 – 7:30pm hours during the week and I have found myself passing up on on work events or simply an evening out with a friend because the thought of calling and emailing around to get coverage during that time is not worth all of the trouble. It’s an odd time, but my husband {Read More}

Recognizing Symptoms of Spring Allergies in Kids

This is a sponsored post in partnership with KnowYourOTCs. Cute kids with spring allergies and mocos are my own. News flash: the little people in our lives get spring allergies too. Who knew? However treating their symptoms and finding relief are different than for adult sufferers. I didn’t much on this and maybe some of you don’t either. As a serious allergy suffer — and I’m talking prescription medication taken with an over-the-counter one AND nasal spray (eeeeek!) on those extra pollen induced {Read More}

Wear Sunscreen NOT Sunburns #ChooseSkinHealth

Share Button

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Neutrogena® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own. It’s sunscreen season and time to think about your skin health more than ever. Memorial Day will mean spending time outdoors and the rest of the summer months should be about enjoying the beach, the kids doing cannon balls at the pool or playing with the hose in the backyard — NOT about painful sunburned skin. Scary to think but 1 in {Read More}
