Real Mom Style: Transitioning to Spring in a CAbi Trench

–>Watch segment on how to shop your closet <–

It was a beautiful Saturday here in Alexandria — my husband and I had to take full advantage and head out before the grey skies and snow rolled back  in on Sunday.  We headed to Del Ray Café for a quiet and lovely brunch. ¡Sí! We left the kids with their Oma.

Oh and before I forget —  I fixed my broken Ray-Bans! I have NO idea why I didn’t do it sooner, but I just used superglue to hold the piece in place and now they are back in action.

Clearly transitioning  to spring is proving to be harder than expected with all this snow in March. However, when the warmer days to arrive, the main piece to come out and play is my CAbi trench coat. It’s light, chic and screams spring. EVERYONE should own a trench, it’s a staple piece.

I always keep essentials and continuously shop my closet for things I can re-style with the current trends.

The green bag overrides my darker bags from and brightens up the outfit. And because it has a detachable strap, I can use it when I’m with the kids as a cross-body or as seen here when I’m child-free.

Convertible style at its finest!

    Love the nautical look of the striped peplum top! My denim jacket is one of my key transitional pieces– I think I wear it with almost any dress or skirt in my closet! (Now I just need a counterpart that works when I’m in jeans!)

    Are those full sleeves buttoned up on the trench Maria? I like your tote. Looks a lot like the tan one I bought last week from Next.

Reflecting on the Good of 2014 Despite the Bad

This is a compensated post in collaboration with Children’s MOTRIN and The Motherhood.  Aaaaaaand it’s December. I realize we are mid-month already, but just before Thanksgiving my husband and kids packed up our bags and left for Chile. It was a last minute, spur of the moment decision. Not to be adventurous, but to say goodbye to my sweet and handsome Opa (grandfather) who, chances are will not see the new year. During those two weeks, not only did I {Read More}

At Home Healthy and Vibrant Hair Color by Madison Reed

Share Button

Sponsored post in collaboration with Madison Reed. All opinions my own. I haven’t colored my hair at home since…. ohhhhh, I can’t remember. I rarely do all over color because I find they are harsh and looks terrible as it grows out. However, I’m older now (cough) and I have some pesky greys coming in which I don’t quite fancy seeing everyday. Madison Reed, salon quality haircolor approached me to try it and well — I did! No joke, I {Read More}

Embrace and Rock Your Curves with NEW Lee Curvy Fit Jeans

This is a sponsored collaboration with Redbook and Lee Misses. All opinions are my own. Jeans are never easy to shop for and over the years I’ve come to realize that it’s not just me. All over, women are not fully satisfied with the way their pants fit. One thing I cannot tolerate is the gap in the back — ahhhh drives me insane. I’ve never had a problem with it myself, but I’ve been “exposed” to it many a times. My {Read More}

Since I could read I have loved books. I could finish a book in a weekend, I’d volunteer to read aloud in class and a new book was always on my list of things to buy. Along with my love of reading, I was blessed with 20/20 vision despite desperately wanting glasses as a child. I know, crazy! I’d even pretend to struggle on my yearly eye exam at school. Each time I was sure I’d given an Oscar worthy {Read More}

A Hand Model’s Daily Beauty Routine

Share Button

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of AmLactin. The opinions, text and severely dry hands are all mine. Aside from freshening up my hair with dry shampoo, applying BB Cream or a light foundation, adding a dab of blush and giving my lashes a much needed boost with mascara, part of my morning beauty routine is moisturizing my hands. Especially now with the colder weather and drier air. They don’t get just dry, they CRACK and peel {Read More}
