Real Mom Style: Transitioning to Spring in a CAbi Trench

–>Watch segment on how to shop your closet <–

It was a beautiful Saturday here in Alexandria — my husband and I had to take full advantage and head out before the grey skies and snow rolled back  in on Sunday.  We headed to Del Ray Café for a quiet and lovely brunch. ¡Sí! We left the kids with their Oma.

Oh and before I forget —  I fixed my broken Ray-Bans! I have NO idea why I didn’t do it sooner, but I just used superglue to hold the piece in place and now they are back in action.

Clearly transitioning  to spring is proving to be harder than expected with all this snow in March. However, when the warmer days to arrive, the main piece to come out and play is my CAbi trench coat. It’s light, chic and screams spring. EVERYONE should own a trench, it’s a staple piece.

I always keep essentials and continuously shop my closet for things I can re-style with the current trends.

The green bag overrides my darker bags from and brightens up the outfit. And because it has a detachable strap, I can use it when I’m with the kids as a cross-body or as seen here when I’m child-free.

Convertible style at its finest!

    Love the nautical look of the striped peplum top! My denim jacket is one of my key transitional pieces– I think I wear it with almost any dress or skirt in my closet! (Now I just need a counterpart that works when I’m in jeans!)

    Are those full sleeves buttoned up on the trench Maria? I like your tote. Looks a lot like the tan one I bought last week from Next.

I love me a good snowy winter and the fun and stylish pieces you can wear during the cold weather months — including this Ecru suede, knit and fur jacket I picked up at the Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale a few weeks ago here in Alexandria from local shop Coco Blanca. However, this post isn’t just about this undeniably stunning jacket. No. It’s about the quality and the depth of it. I mentioned previously about working on transitioning my wardrobe {Read More}

When Your Toddler Attacks Your Makeup Bag (VIDEO)

Let me preface by saying that I do keep my makeup, especially red lipstick along with other items (jewelry, perfume, etc.) away from my toddler. However, she ALWAYS manages to find something, ANYTHING she can completely and utterly destroy — especially when she is bored and indoors due to winter weather. Clothing provided by J. Jill for one shirt three ways post. Getting dressed is more than the act of putting on clothes.  Anything from putting together looks with just a few pieces, mixing patterns, thinking of ways to style one garment several ways or giving life to a tired look are just a few ways it can be and is a creative process for me.
