Although I’m back on this side of the Atlantic, I’m showing you how to (brave) pattern mixing from two different outfits I wore during my two weeks in London.
I actually get quite a lot of questions on how to properly do pattern mixing simply because many want to try it, but for years it was a big no no and there is that fear of looking ridiculous.
Let’s have a look at two very different pattern mixing outfits…
CAMO & STRIPES
Outside of Kensington Palace in London
I realize camo is scary. It was scary for me for a long time but if you find a feminine cut, such as these STRETCH camo clover jeggings from CAbi then you are set to go.
I am a huge fan of stripes, in fact I own too much stripes — however they really work with everything. See striped tops as a staple piece and style with other patterns….such as CAMO.
See, I don’t look all ‘rough and tough’ as many think. The look is feminine, with a bit of edge and the trench finishes the outfit giving it a classic touch.
POLKA DOTS & STRIPES
Strolling along the river in Richmond, just outside of London
I usually have an idea of what I want to wear, but then the next day I always end up putting something together spur of the moment. I mix and match and having key pieces such as blazers and button down shirts makes it easier for everyday wear.
This is what happened for our beautiful, sunny day out in Richmond — which is just outside of London. I had my jeans on, then worked my way up. I added the polka dot blouse and then…I wanted to switch up the trench since I’d worn it so much and just tried out the stripes…and what do you know, it worked! Pattern mixing at it’s best — clean, classic with a bit of a twist.
Try it! Start with a striped top and wear with print bottoms.

Your host for this week is Momma in Flip Flops
This post is about real mamas who have real style. While we all fall into the jeans and t-shirt rut we are encouraging our fellow moms to take the time to dress their best and rock it like the rock star moms they are!
Did you look especially good this week, were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit?
Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion! This linky is hosted by Thrifty and Chic Mom and Very Busy Mama.
