I talked about what’s hot for summer, how to wear it and that it’s OK not to like or wear everything that is on trend. You should tailor YOUR personal style to current trends and find what works for you!
Right now I’m going through a bit of a rough time — not to get too deep but over the past months I’ve gained a good amount of weight, I’m super inactive and I’m just feeling sluggish and BLAH. I didn’t know what to wear for this event and felt nervous because I didn’t look good in their dresses which is what I wanted to wear.
In the end I decided to put on a peplum slimming and stretch dress by Karen Kane and wear one of the boutique’s white and black blazer.
However, once I was there, I wanted to ditch the black and feel more “summery.” So I took a chance and tried on a Trina Turk striped black and white FITTED, I repeat, FITTED halter dress. And guess what…it worked!
But you know how? I wore it OVER my Karen Kane dress which served as shapewear and BOOM…I felt confident and I thought I looked the part. I make no secret that I use shapewear and I even went as far as to show my guests that I was wearing one underneath (just a peek!)
I added a pair of Vince Camuto perforated open toe heels, a black and white tuxedo style jacket and my House of Harlow cobalt pendant.
Guests were challenged to put their own summer looks together and take risks — two winners received $50 gift cards and 3 winners received a Smashbox gift set courtesy of Aleah Rae, makeup artist at Nordstrom Pentagon City a Noonday necklace from Ambassador Kelli Magee and two sets of Magnificuffs from Marcia.
The outfit was on loan, but I loved feeling and looking good! I liked it so much that today I decided I NEED to get back on track and get working out so that I can feel this way everyday — so I called up Fitness on the Run here in Alexandria and I start this week.
I’m ready to go right now!
Your host for this week is Thrifty and Chic Mom
This post is about real mamas who have real style. While we all fall into the jeans and t-shirt rut we are encouraging our fellow moms to take the time to dress their best and rock it like the rock star moms they are!
Did you look especially good this week, were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit?
Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion! This linky is hosted by Thrifty and Chic Mom, Momma in Flip Flops and Very Busy Mama.
