Visit Alexandria is a client and I also live, work and play in Alexandria.
It’s no secret that I love where I live and I’m thrilled to call Alexandria my home.
A few months back Visit Alexandria was looking for a new Social Media Manager and I was one fortunate to be one of the candidates in the running. Obviously from the image I’m posting, I did get the position and just in case you haven’t noticed, I absolutely love my job.
Just this week I did a spot for a Pennsylvania TV news segment on visiting Old Town for the day and the various things to do with your family and earlier in June my family and I were on the cover of local e-magazine Domicile DC where I wrote a feature on Del Ray, our neighborhood in Alexandria.
Last night, the Visit Alexandria team unveiled the new blog, EXTRA Alex at our Summer Social showcasing an engaging and inviting site packed full of information, videos and beautiful images. I also spoke about our social media work and why and how we’ve been doing what we’re doing.
One of the requirements of the evening was for the team to wear our Extraordinary Alexandria T-shirts. Sadly, the person bringing mine came during my presentation, so I didn’t have it on when speaking. However, I still wore it afterwards and yes — you guessed it, I had planned my jewelry and shoes before hand.
Oh, but let me tell you this — I don’t wear t-shirts. Nope. I really don’t have any, and if I do, I don’t leave the house with one on.
I find they do me no favors and are unflattering. When I was told we had to wear them, I got a bit nervous and I quickly started mentally putting a look together. I knew the shirt was black, fitted and had a feminine cut so at least there were some positives.
However, the entire Visit Alexandria team, both men and women were stylin’ these shirts — here are a few of my favorite looks from the blog launch party.
Claire went with a cute, flirty yet classic look with the white and blue shirt over cobalt jeans. The red belt not only cinches the waist, but adds color and the final touches to his effortlessly chic outfit.
Molly styled the black v-neck t-shirt with a black mid-length pencil skirt and boots creating an edgy chic look.
Finally, the two ladies on the ends went for t-shirt with a skirt and heels look and adding a sash as a belt for that extra bit of chic. I tell you, everyone looked fabulous! If you are local you can stop by the Visitors Center on King Street to purchase a shirt.
Make sure to check out our new blog and follow Visit Alexandria for all of the latest happenings — and believe me, there is LOTS going on!
