Blo Blow Dry Bar Leaves Your Hair Sexy and Sleek

Received hair services free of charge. Images and opinions my own.

Last week I walked into Blo — North America’s first blow dry bar at their Dupont Circle location in Washington, D.C. with dry, frizzy, over hair sprayed and unwashed hair.

I had been invited to experience the WASH, BLOW, GO concept (blow out and style) to celebrate the opening of their latest blow dry bar in Gaithersburg, Maryland and I wanted it to be worth my while.

What is Blo Blow Dry Bar? It’s a no cuts, no color hair salon. Just WASH, BLOW, GO.

I know, it sounds simple and so obvious. Sometimes you just want to have your hair properly dried and styled by someone else and sit back and relax (I’m the kind that lets my child play with my hair or bribe him to brush it!) Or you need your hair to be on its best behavior — especially on the go.

Blo makes it easy to pop in before a work meeting, before a date or just to look fabulous for the evening.

Right now the big news is that actress Gwyneth Paltrow and hairstylist to the stars David Babaii have joined the Blo family as part of the creative team with plans for growth and brand strategy.

With their partnership, Blo will be able to spread red carpet glamour to women with quick, convenient and affordable blow outs. So basically you can get sleek and sexy Gwyneth looking hair at any time. Like her or not, she does have gorgeous hair!

Blo has a hair menu with different style options and I ended up with the “holly would” which involves plenty of curls and bounce — AND I even changed up my part. I know, I went crazy! The next day my hair looked EVEN better; I really rocked the messy waves look.

Will I be back? YES.

The new location is at 317 Ellington Boulevard, Gaithersburg, Maryland and the D.C. location is one block from Rock Creek Park at 2126 P. Street, NW.

WASH, BLOW, GO mamas!

Honey Cocktail Recipes for Sweet Summer Drinks

Share Button

Sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood and The Honey Board.  There is nothing we love more for an extra bit of sweetness in our home than honey. I stir it into my coffee, add some over my plain low-fat yogurt, on toast with peanut butter and it replaces syrup on my pancakes — and now in my kids water and in my summertime drinks! This honey cocktail recipe that I appropriately named “Viva el Verano” which translates to “Long Live Summer” {Read More}

Find Babysitters ASAP with Urban Sitter

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. I constantly struggle to find babysitters to cover the 5:00 – 7:30pm hours during the week and I have found myself passing up on on work events or simply an evening out with a friend because the thought of calling and emailing around to get coverage during that time is not worth all of the trouble. It’s an odd time, but my husband {Read More}

Recognizing Symptoms of Spring Allergies in Kids

This is a sponsored post in partnership with KnowYourOTCs. Cute kids with spring allergies and mocos are my own. News flash: the little people in our lives get spring allergies too. Who knew? However treating their symptoms and finding relief are different than for adult sufferers. I didn’t much on this and maybe some of you don’t either. As a serious allergy suffer — and I’m talking prescription medication taken with an over-the-counter one AND nasal spray (eeeeek!) on those extra pollen induced {Read More}

Wear Sunscreen NOT Sunburns #ChooseSkinHealth

Share Button

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Neutrogena® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own. It’s sunscreen season and time to think about your skin health more than ever. Memorial Day will mean spending time outdoors and the rest of the summer months should be about enjoying the beach, the kids doing cannon balls at the pool or playing with the hose in the backyard — NOT about painful sunburned skin. Scary to think but 1 in {Read More}

Related Post: How Hispanics Celebrate Mother’s Day I can say with absolute certainty that when you are invited to dinner at an Hispanic home you will NOT be done and out the door by 9:00pm. Dinners and social get togethers are an EXPERIENCE. An aperitivo to start, then a big meal with laughter, story telling, plenty of wine and right when many think it’s {Read More}

A Mother’s Love with Macy’s Heart of Haiti (VIDEO)

I received a hand crafted Soapstone Heart Box from Macy’s Heart of Haiti as a gift for Mother’s Day. No other compensation given. Roller skating kids and story are my own! How was your Mother’s Day?! I was surprised with a roller skating and jumping performance by my kids — seriously, so so cute and ridiculously funny. Mother’s Day naturally had me thinking of motherhood and how our job is to care for, provide for and love our families. But what {Read More}
