One Outfit, Three Days

Talk about REAL mama style. Yep. Same outfit, three days (well, not SAME outfit, I did have one other shirt.)

Last week I took a last minute trip to New Jersey without my husband or the kids to visit my sister-in-law and my 3 month old niece.

My husband was away on a business trip and my mother didn’t have any major plans so I was able to get away and leave the kids with her. I really didn’t want to drive alone, so I took a bus from D.C. to NYC and then jumped on the NJ Transit out to suburbs. It was a long journey, but without kids everything seems so easy — in fact, too easy.

You know what else was easy? Packing.

I had no intentions of wearing any thing other than a black pair of Marika magic slimming capri leggings (gifted) which are discreetly slimming and not restricting at all, sandals, a loose black and white print blouse and my favorite Extraordinary Alexandria t-shirt (of course, I packed fresh undies and bras!) I always over pack, but I didn’t want to have to deal with a heavy bag and really, we weren’t going to be doing anything other than hanging out — mama style!

My makeup was light — wearing only BB cream and mascara and the day before I had used a curling wand for soft waves so that I didn’t have to worry to much about my hair.  I took dry shampoo so that I could easily style my hair without having to wash and style and cream blush so that I didn’t need makeup tools.

I traveled with a CAbi trench, especially because I never know how high the AC will be on the bus, grabbed my $2 sunglasses and I was good to go!

The final touch was a cobalt House of Harlow Sunburst Pendant Necklace that South Moon Under gifted me a few months ago before going to London. It made the very simple outfit pop a bit because you should always have a bit of wow factor.

And that’s what I looked like for the next 2 days…it was absolute relaxation and I spent quality time with my sister in law and niece. I realize this is extreme light packing, but I’m pretty proud of myself.

Have a great week everyone!

Did you look especially good this week? Were the other moms at the playground complimenting your outfit?

Share the look that worked for both potty training, the playground and coffee with a friend and let’s inspire each other with some real mom fashion! This linky is hosted by Thrifty and Chic MomMomma in Flip Flops and myself Very Busy Mama.

    I love it, of course this only works when you are kid free otherwise they always end up staining your clothes LOL!

    Love that printed top! So envious of your light packing too – I always end up over packing, even on short trips.

    hope you had fun!

    Cute. I love the color pop in that necklace and that you are so awesome at packing light. Wow!

    You look great. Love the blouse and watch. Great casual-chic outfit, Maria.

    My pleasure linking up again. Would love for you how I styled a fancier dress in 2 daytime looks. Thanks, Ada. =)

What do you get when you mix super awesome amazing hair, with day old undies and unshaven legs? Me on a Saturday morning! Here I am with my kids at the spray park last weekend. All looks good — right? Well, if you could take a closer look you’d see that haven’t waxed my legs and my feet are in desperate need of a pedicure. On top of that, the blue dress I’m wearing has crusted mocos smeared on it (in {Read More}

Honey Cocktail Recipes for Sweet Summer Drinks

Share Button

Sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood and The Honey Board.  There is nothing we love more for an extra bit of sweetness in our home than honey. I stir it into my coffee, add some over my plain low-fat yogurt, on toast with peanut butter and it replaces syrup on my pancakes — and now in my kids water and in my summertime drinks! This honey cocktail recipe that I appropriately named “Viva el Verano” which translates to “Long Live Summer” {Read More}

Find Babysitters ASAP with Urban Sitter

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own. I constantly struggle to find babysitters to cover the 5:00 – 7:30pm hours during the week and I have found myself passing up on on work events or simply an evening out with a friend because the thought of calling and emailing around to get coverage during that time is not worth all of the trouble. It’s an odd time, but my husband {Read More}

Recognizing Symptoms of Spring Allergies in Kids

This is a sponsored post in partnership with KnowYourOTCs. Cute kids with spring allergies and mocos are my own. News flash: the little people in our lives get spring allergies too. Who knew? However treating their symptoms and finding relief are different than for adult sufferers. I didn’t much on this and maybe some of you don’t either. As a serious allergy suffer — and I’m talking prescription medication taken with an over-the-counter one AND nasal spray (eeeeek!) on those extra pollen induced {Read More}

Wear Sunscreen NOT Sunburns #ChooseSkinHealth

Share Button

This is sponsored post in collaboration with Neutrogena® and Latina Bloggers Connect. However, all opinions expressed are my own. It’s sunscreen season and time to think about your skin health more than ever. Memorial Day will mean spending time outdoors and the rest of the summer months should be about enjoying the beach, the kids doing cannon balls at the pool or playing with the hose in the backyard — NOT about painful sunburned skin. Scary to think but 1 in {Read More}
