Last week I along with a group of talented women — more specifically, mamas, were part of the Hot Momma Haute panel. The beautiful (and very tall!) Monica Byrd asked me to be a part of it and I happily agreed.
Along with other like-minded bloggers and businesswomen we had a great time talking about what it means to be a hot mama and talked about the trials and tribulations of motherhood, our personal style, beauty must-haves (helloooooo dry shampoo!) changes we’ve gone through after baby and how we have all evolved since becoming “head of operations” in our role as moms.
As for the outfit, I’ve been wearing more black lately. I stopped wearing black two years ago when I embraced color and prints full on after realizing that I could look good and conceal problem areas without opting for darker shades. In fact, the only black pieces I wore were jeans, but nothing else.
Now, I’m back to black — but for the RIGHT reasons. Not to settle or hide. I stepped waaaay out of my comfort zone and wore a below the knee Pure J.Jill Black Crinkle dress that was given to me at Fashion Forward, black open toe pumps from TJ Maxx, my nails were painted dark blue/green by Julep and for a touch of color I added a simple cobalt House of Harlow pendant from South Moon Under.
Honestly, I haven’t been in black from head to toe since my first son was 6 months old in 2009 and I was wearing the same black moo-moo day in and day out. My husband who really don’t say much about what I wear one day said “So, are you going to wear anything other than black? It’s like you’ve gone mama goth or something.”
Well, this look is certainly NOT goth, despite the black nails and heels. Oh and let’s talk about the dress — it is SUPER DUPER EXTRA STRETCHY. So much so that I’m wearing a SMALL. And actually, I could have gone with an XS. The crinkles remind me of the stretchy GLAD bags because they streeeeeetch, then bounce right back. So does this dress. And I’m not saying it’s a garbage back, but that’s my best analogy right now.
OBVIOUSLY I wore my Jockey slip shorts to smooth out the lumps and bumps and feel comfortable and chic all night with more than enough room to let the tummy relax and “hang out.”
This super stretchy and stylish black dress is a must have for women, especially us mamas. It is long sleeved, can be dressed up or down (picture it with stylish sneakers instead of heels), you can cinch at the waist or if you are taller wear as a tunic with leggings or jeans!
Did I mention it has pockets?? ¡Siiiiii! It does.
