Since I could read I have loved books. I could finish a book in a weekend, I’d volunteer to read aloud in class and a new book was always on my list of things to buy.
Along with my love of reading, I was blessed with 20/20 vision despite desperately wanting glasses as a child. I know, crazy! I’d even pretend to struggle on my yearly eye exam at school. Each time I was sure I’d given an Oscar worthy performance of a young girl in need to eyewear, but each time I’d get the all clear.
I lived 32 years without needing eyewear and then suddenly I needed them to read, to clear up the fuzziness. Joking around, I told my husband “Finally!” Recently it was time to get my eyes checked out again and I also thought I needed to update my specs. Of course I wanted something chic and stylish.
Buying designer glasses inspired this “book worm” look which has me wearing my beloved Hold Your Haunches leggings (as seen on Shark Tank) the brown J. Jill boots given to me at the Fashion Forward Conference and my new poncho coat from H&M. I like that it is sleeveless because it allows me to wear layers without feeling over packaged or as Chris Farley said “fat man in little jacket.”
On the other hand, the glasses also encouraged me to hit my local bookstore and get back to reading! I picked up Thrive by Arianna Huffington and 41 by George W. Bush about his father and former President George H.W. Bush.
So, what do you think about my nerd chic look? Derek Cardigan glasses, books and tote bag are essential — everything else is optional!
Now, let me get back to my reading.
