As women we compare ourselves to other women, something I stopped doing because it only makes you bitter and there is nothing you can do about it. There will always be someone prettier, smarter, better dressed, thinner, taller than you, etc. etc.
But that doesn’t mean we aren’t fabulous ourselves.
Black Slimming Leggings: Smooths tummy area without leaving you gasping for air
I’m not complaining here or fishing for compliments — but I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I’m rarely satisfied with how I look, but I don’t dwell on it.
I work on it and look at the positives and when other women say to me that I don’t have a tummy, or that I don’t look like I’m a size 12 I tell them, “Look, here’s the thing, I’m a master at dressing for my body. I know what I need to draw less attention to and what I can accentuate.”
Little Black Dress: Scrunched up look distracts from middle and fitted underslip smooths out lumps and bumps
And that’s just it, I have cellulite, I’m short, I have hips and I have a tummy but since I was a child I learned to suck it in and now I can’t relax my stomach muscles so I automatically have a flat stomach.
It’s amazing how you can camo your body and work with it to look your absolute best. If I compared my self to others, I’d only end up miserable.
Grey Twill and Blue Suede Slimming Leggings: NYTL (Not Your Traditional Leggings) stylishly smoothes tummy
So the last question I get asked is “what brands do you recommend?”
There are many many out there and I own a variety of pieces. My latest discovery has been Lyssé — a slimming and stylish range of (mostly leggings) but also dresses, tops, jackets. Mind you, they are NOT shapewear.
Black and White Top: Business in the front, party in the back! Loose fitting top opens in back for a more dramatic and stylish look
The Lyssé collection provides an extra bit of silhouetting and slimming around the hips and tummy (leggings), the dresses have slip like piece which is tighter to your body giving you extra curvature and smoothness and the tops are flowy and loose while smoothing out the lumps and bumps underneath — all of these looks you can see above.
Seriously, how glamorous are these pieces? Leggings are no longer a four letter world. Many thought the style would go quickly but it has only developed into a more sophisticated and better accepted piece of clothing which when worn correctly is actually a very flattering look for women of all shapes and sizes.
So you may be working on losing weight (I am!) but in the mean time that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look and feel your best. Dress for your body NOW… and the rest will follow.
