There is nothing we love more for an extra bit of sweetness in our home than honey.
I stir it into my coffee, add some over my plain low-fat yogurt, on toast with peanut butter and it replaces syrup on my pancakes — and now in my kids water and in my summertime drinks!
Cocktail recipe sponsored post in collaboration with The Motherhood and The National Honey Board.
This honey cocktail recipe that I appropriately named “Viva el Verano” which translates to “Long Live Summer” or “Here’s to Summer!” was inspired by The National Honey Board after meeting with their ambassadors during the #BenefitsOfHoney Washington, D.C. stop.
Refreshing, simple ingredients and made to impress — you and your guests will be asking for more.
Happy Hour just got a whole lot sweeter!
Viva el Verano Cocktail
Ingredients (per one cocktail)
1 teaspoon of honey
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon of lemon zest
Handful of frozen berries — any kind but shown here are raspberries
Citrus Vodka or regular Vodka (how much you want is up to you!)
Handful of ice
A few basil leaves
1/2 cup of sparking water
1/2 cup of Diet Ginger Ale
In a tall cold glass (I left mine in the freezer for an hour) pour in the honey, lemon juice, lemon zest and a handful of frozen berries.
Stir well and add a squirt of vodka so it doesn’t congeal.
Add a handful of ice then pour the rest of your citrus vodka.
Add sparking water and ginger ale (or Sprite).
Drop in a few berries for added decor and a few basil leaves for taste.
Cheers! Enjoy! Repeat!
Also delicious sans alcohol
There is so much more you can create with honey — both edible and non-edible.
