It’s been a long summer. In fact, too long. My son’s last day of kindergarten was June 2nd! Take a few moments to ponder that one. Keeping a 6 year old and a very stubborn and “it’s my way or no way” 2 1/2 year old has not been an easy task.
My kids and I played (and searched for pieces!) with the Pop Up Shape Sorter as part of a sponsored post for SocialStars and Playskool #PlayskoolCrew
Toys in this house seem to have legs and then re-emerge all over the place. In the car, the bathroom, in my closet, the office and even inside mami and papi’s bed. But, it just means the kids are having fun everywhere they go and that their toys really are portable which means they can keep busy anywhere!
Besides, Playskool toys like the Fold n’ Go Elephant, the Stack n’ Stow Cups (featured last time) and now the Pop Up Shape Sorter actually have a carry handle making it easy for the kids to grab and go. Not to mention, it means I don’t have to carry a load of toys in my bag!
How cute and smart is that?
Right now shouting out shapes and colors are a big deal for 2 1/2 year old. She loves to figure out where each goes, matching shapes, saying the colors out loud and gets extremely competitive when I or her older brother get to it first.
Aside from the fun factor for her, it’s been a great tool for teaching her shapes and colors in English and Spanish. My 6 year old sits with her and jumps in on the bilingual fun saying “rojo is red” or “un triangulo rosado…”
Now when she picks up the cute gato shaped sorter she starts reciting colors first in English then in Spanish and waits to be applauded.
Multi-use toys — gotta love them! Besides, for a kid toys are their accessories and how sweet does she look carrying it?
