This blog began in January 2012 after blogging as my son for two years at Mummy’s Busy World (no longer online.) I was scared to be me, especially if I was going to show real style, fashion and beauty as a mamá. I hadn’t seen much by way of mom fashion bloggers so I wasn’t sure where to start.
I thought fashion and beauty blogging was for the thin, under 30 and childless — at least that’s what it seemed like.
Putting my ideas, creations and personal view of style and fashion as a woman over 30, size 12/14 after baby with two children (well, one at the time) out there for other mamas to see was a big deal for me. Of course I knew I wasn’t the only one so I went looking and found more than I was expecting!
I discovered a group of brilliant and creative mom fashion and beauty bloggers who have guided and most certainly influenced me along the way and still do to this day — page views and number of followers have nothing to do with my list, but their own take on fashion and beauty trends. With them I have bounced ideas, learned how to take proper pictures, reached out for support, asked for advice, been motivated to try a new look (maxi skirts for instance) or simply just been moved by their content — which in the end is what matters.
To these lovely ladies I say THANK YOU here on my list of the Top 15 Most Influential Mom Fashion & Beauty Bloggers 2015 both in the US and across the pond in the UK.
Top 15 Mom Fashion and Beauty Bloggers
Wardrobe Oxygen — A blogging and style maven, Alison has been giving readers essential fashion advice since 2005. No BS or sugar coating — she serves up a daily outfit post making you totally envious of her wardrobe and compliments it with some fabulous Instagrams snaps. An absolute must read site for anyone looking for inspiration and knowing Alison personally makes it that much more awesome!
Flats to Flip Flops — Ashley’s smile is what initially caught my attention when I landed on her site. No faux model poses and hunger looks — nope! She is the real deal and I adore her everyday chic style. This girl can make a sweatshirt and jeans look hot hot hot! She recently teamed up with a partner and between the both of them they have turned up the volume on real and attainable style. She also wrote a brilliant e book on finding your personal style in 7 days.
Glamamom — Another mama whose pregnancy style left me in total awe — Jill made me realize that “yes you CAN wear skinny jeans when pregnant!” She is a NYC mom of two boys now living in the ‘burbs and a fashion powerhouse. To be honest, I love her hair. Clearly pregnancy didn’t leave her with semi-balding patches (ummmm, like me) I truly adore her style, which is vibrant, colorful and bold. I have to warn you though, it can be dangerous to go on her site because it will make you want to go shopping, ASAP.
Medicated Follower of Fashion — Alex has the best personal and truly unique style I have ever seen. Mum of two, I’m sad I didn’t know her when I lived in the UK. Her flair for fashion can be seen on her two cute boys and her Instagram shows one creative and supermely colorful outfit after another (including her hair!) She also hosts a Trendy Tuesday link up for the little ones.
Hispana Global — Jeannette Kaplun, fellow chilena, mama of two tweens, journalist, spokesperson and just overall renaissance woman is undeniably one of the most top fashion and beauty bloggers both in the English and Spanish speaking world. I’m proud to call her a mentor and friend and well, her fashion and beauty features and videos are spot on — for the busy new mom, for the moms with kids in school, she has you covered. And you learn Spanish in the process. Win win!
Curves and Chaos — Ok, so I cheated! Monique is not a mama, but she’s a friend to mamas and adores her little nephew. That counts, right? See, I just had to include her because back when I was brand new to the US blogging world, Monique came up to me at a Latina bloggers conference and gave me a big smile and hug. She has no idea how great it felt to be so warmly welcomed. This girl is a pro, and her site is one I go to time and time again. Beauty and fashion for all ages and sizes is what she looks to convey — clearly she knows a thing or two as she also blogs for Babble.
All Things Chic — This was the first mom fashion blog I landed on and instantly fell in love. The content is fresh, up to date and with different mom contributors you get different takes on trends — it’s really THE only network for mama fashion bloggers. Melissa, the site’s creator and mom of three has effortless style she is a true fashion ambassador helping moms everywhere look and feel their best. You can join the Chic Network to meet other mom fashion bloggers, share content or if you just need a bit of inspiration. ATC has it all!
Mom Trends — Nicole is at the center of all things fashion for both moms and kids brining you the latest and best for staying in the know. Need a stylish stroller? She’s got it. Need a chic diaper bag? She’s got you covered. Bascially without her I wouldn’t have discovered all these other bloggers and I would have never braved color. Seriously, I was a black and white kind of gal — I bought my first pair of colored jeans thanks to Mom Trends! Nicole is also the founder of Fashion Forward, a one day conference for blogging moms.
School Gate Style — I enjoying popping over to see what my fellow mummy bloggers are up to, especially when it comes to fashion. Trends vary, especially from the US to the UK and I personally like Avril, mum of three who is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She has a very classic, clean and crisp look and I’m a fan of her scarves. Just this week I’m wearing a poncho and scarf outfit the she inspired — go on her site and you’ll see what I’m talking about!
Style Delights — Following one blogger leads you to another, and Jyoti was one that I came across early on in my early days. Street Style photos are big with fashion bloggers, but when it comes down to it, this mama has made an art of it! Elegant, on trend yet timeless style are what you get with Jyoti. A VBM favorite!
Mom Fabulous — The name itself makes you want to take a look. A mother to a tween and two teens, Julie Bonner teaches you how to be effortlessly stylish while being a mom of three. Through her daily outfit posts, reviews or just seeing her smiling face will make you want to come back and visit. Style inspiration she is and it’s one of the reasons I check in to see what she and her brood are up to!
Rachel the Hat — Once you hit the UK, make a left and then head north to Scotland where you will find Rachel, mum and step-mum to 3 kids. She not only captures her vintage inspired outfits for the world to see, but does so with the most beautiful of backgrounds — outside her door, down a country road or in an open field. Remarkable and just simply lovely!
Bon Bon Rose Girls — A blogging duo, Megan and Kristin are two friends in two different states but share a common love of style, fashion, their kids and all things pretty. Their lifestyle blog was also one of the first sites I found and instantly felt a connection to. I’ve seen them share their maternity looks and from them I got ideas on how to style my bump when number two was baking and how to create a sweet fashion collage using Polyvore.
Thirty Something Fashion — Carly is a mom of two based on the Jersey Shore. Her style is unapologetic, fierce and show stopping without going overboard. Oh and I’m super jealous of her long legs! Ha ha. She also runs a personal shopping business helping women, especially busy moms define and update their own style.
Yanira Garza — Another Latina mami looking oh-so-bella! Currently she is pregnant with her second child and oooooh mama does she look amazing. Her style is impressively classic and neat and aside from her blog, she is also a spokesperson. In 2011 became the first Latina Spokesperson and Fashion Expert for Old Navy, doing commentary on Univision, CNN and Telemundo. In 2012 she was featured as a “Favorite Latina Blogger” Latina Magazine and again in 2013 as the “Top Ten Beauty Bloggers” to watch. ¡Vamos Yanira!
Grace & Beauty— Cyndi Spivey shows that fashion and style don’t shut down after having children. A 40 something year old mama and grandmother, she shares tips on fashion, make-up, and beauty, as well as reminders that true beauty begins on the inside. Her style is chic, trendy yet timeless. If you need an idea for a look, Cyndi is the woman to go to!
Yes, there are many more bloggers, but I wanted a small and personal group that you too will be moved by. Everyone has a story and theirs are worth knowing.
