A poncho cape is a great addition to your wardrobe because you can wear it into the winter with thicker layers underneath. It’s also costume season — both for Halloween and All Saints Day at my son’s school.
Last year he wanted to be St. Francis of Assisi because “He loved animals, and I love animals too…” I had no idea what to do for his costume. Then… as if illuminated from the heavens above I dressed him in my new (at the time) brown H&M poncho cape. Or St. Francis Style as I call it!

I wrapped a belt around his waist and he carried two of his favorite stuffed animals with him. A few hours later I get a call that my little man had passed out and thrown up during mass. Why? He got overheated wearing the poncho cape. Poor guy!
This year he’s St. Francis again (minus the layers) and I sent him to school with a water bottle in case he gets too hot. When he got out of the car he said “bye mami, I promise not to throw up on your ponchito.”
Exactly what I was thinking!
