Watching The Walking Dead I think of 4 things:
- Could I (in another insane universe) survive this zombie apocalypse shiz myself?
- The smell. Oh dear God the smell.
- Even at the risk of being drenched in blood, guts and being attacked by walkers doesn’t stop anyone from showing off their true personal style.
- The acting is amazing and personally I can see myself working on it. After all, I’m a real resident of Alexandria, Virginia so why not do it on TV too? I’m working on this… trust me!
You see, everyday the Alexandria, Virginia residents have to hunt or be hunted and really, if you are going to be moving around so much, running from walkers, stabbing them in the brain and wrangling them off you, it’s best to be comfortable. You wouldn’t want to be restricted and risk being bitten. I mean, for real. I get it.
Look, I’m simply relieved to know that fashion is not dead when most of the world is. Phewwwww.
That being said, I put together 3 outfits inspired by The Walking Dead — Maggie, Tara and Sasha with pieces from J.Jill who would certainly fare well during the apocalypse due to their ultra comfort and style motto and collections.
Seriously gorgeous and those fitted skinnies and tall boots just make her all the more badass. Despite the dark world they live in, her soft southern ways haven’t left her and she offers comfort to those who need it and turns into a killing machine when threatened. I’ve noticed they don’t really wear black — but more grays, greens, browns and a burgundy-esq washed out color. Which makes them more earthy and less morbid.

I feel I’d be like her. She took care of her father until the end and tried to save her sister during the Governor fiasco. Despite living in this now insane world, she is calm, drama free and realistic. If she has to kill she does, especially to save her friends. She is soft-natured, puts up with Eugene and his mullet (ahhhh!) and has developed her bad-assness over time. Oh and her black skinnies and plaid are just my style!
She is a piece of work this one. But who can blame her? I’d go bat-shit crazy living in this kind of world. She keeps it real and I love her personal touch to her zombie-killing outfits. Sasha’s “thing” are her delicate scarves. Not chunky, but a simple silk-like scarf wrapped twice around her neck. That detail is what inspired my outfit — oh and the vest too!

What do you think of my post-apocalyptic inspired outfits? Not too shabby, right? Which one would you wear?
